First Front Door Grant: Learn How to Get $15,000 Towards Your Home
Buying your first home can be an arduous, confusing, and expensive process. But with the First Front Door Grant, things may have gotten a whole lot simpler— and more affordable. With just a $1,500 deposit, you could receive up to $15,000 towards your first home. Even if you’re not a first-time homebuyer, you could still be eligible if you haven’t owned in the last three years!
In our latest podcast episode, Cecile Steinriede sits down with Diane Giovinazzo of Univest Home Loans to learn more about this exciting program.
Who is eligible for First Front Door (FFD)?
The First Front Door Program comes from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh.
To be eligible for the program, you must be a first time home buyer or a purchaser who has not owned an eligible property used as a primary residence in the last three years, and you must meet the income requirements for the program in the county in which you currently reside.
You’ll also need to complete at least four hours of homeownership counseling from an approved counseling agency prior to the purchase of the home, which must include the topic of predatory lending.
What is required and what properties are eligible
If you are eligible to receive the FFD grant, you must put at least $1,500 of your own money towards the down payment and closing costs of your new home. That money can come from a family member as a gift. There are no credit score requirements for this program.
Investment properties and multi-family homes are not eligible for the FFD grant. Single family residences or condominiums are eligible.
How to get started
The FFD grant opens up on April 16, 2024. In order to get registered, you’ll need to contact a mortgage loan officer like Diane. They will need three recent pay stubs to get you registered and approved for the grant. Once that’s done, FFD will hold that money for you for up to six months while you look for a home.
FFD is not a lien and can be stacked with other grants such as the Philly First grant and the PHFA K-FIT grant.
